PFLAG Atlanta gets covered by WABE NPR at Pride

Aleck Ragsdale interviewed three of our members for a story he did on ‘Outreach groups abound at Atlanta PRIDE‘. Visit the link to listen to the story. The text of the story is below.

ATLANTA, GA (WABE) - As with many of the park’s festivals, the walkways were lined with tons of different booths and tents. However, most of the booths at this festival were for a vast array of different outreach groups and non-profit organizations. 71 year old Mary Lynn Merkel was there with her husband as a part of PFLAG which is a support and advocacy group for family members of LGBT people.

“My personal hope to accomplish, is to stand at that booth and to be a presence to those people who maybe have parents who aren’t accepting”
Pride organizers chose this weekend so that the festival could lead up to National Coming Out Day which takes place today.
