VIRTUAL PFLAG Support Group meets online on the Third Sunday of the month

Posted on August 16, 2020June 1, 2020 by PFLAG Atlanta

If you or someone in your life is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, and you need support, PFLAG is the right place. Do you feel like you can help listen to other LGBT people or their parents and share your story? You’re welcome too!

We meet the Third Sunday of every month (virtually) and welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) people and their parents and family. We talk about coming out and dealing with family members who have been come out to. A trained facilitator leads each small group. Everything said at meetings is confidential. This is a safe space.

You must RSVP below to get meeting details.

What can I expect?

For our support meetings, we meet in groups of 8 to 10 people. Each group is led by a trained facilitator. To begin, we go around and introduce ourselves. The facilitator then leads a discussion where participants share their issues and questions. No one who attends a meeting needs to speak - you can just listen in, if you like. If you do speak, you can reveal as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. In the warm and supportive atmosphere many newcomers find that they are able to put troubling thoughts and fears into words for the first time and receive reassurance, guidance and facts. We learn by sharing our own experiences and listening to the experiences of others. All conversations within the groups are considered confidential and are not discussed beyond the room. Even though we might be therapists or counselors in our private lives, at a PFLAG meeting, we are just sons, daughters, parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters.
