Lambda Legal’s Tara Borelli makes sense of all the Marriage Equality news!
We are honored to have Lambda Legal’s Tara Borelli as our featured speaker this Sunday in midtown Atlanta. You have, no doubt, heard of all the marriage equality news recently and are probably wondering what this all means. Tara is the perfect person to break it all down for us!
Tara Borelli is a Senior Attorney in the Southern Regional Office of Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of LGBT people and people with HIV. Borelli’s work focuses on litigation seeking greater relationship recognition for same-sex couples, and strengthening antidiscrimination protections for LGBT people. She was counsel in cases seeking the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Virginia and Nevada, recently resulting in victories at the Fourth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals. Borelli currently represents couples in Georgia seeking access to marriage, and a widow seeking recognition of her marriage on a death certificate for the spouse she lost earlier this year to cancer.
We begin promptly at 2:30pm. After Tara’s comments, she will take questions till approximately 3:45pm. We will break for refreshments and then have an hour of support groups from 4pm to 5pm. If you are the parent of a lesbian, gay, bi or trans child or an LGBT person yourself, you are welcome to attend! We share our stories but do not counsel. Everything that is said within the group remains confidential.
