On the 18th we’re getting our posterboard and markers out and getting our posters ready for Atlanta PRIDE 2011! As you know, we march every year in the Pride Parade on Sunday Oct 9th and get the loudest cheers! We will have a slightly different format for this Sunday. We will begin with the support groups, then break for refreshments. After the break, those who would like to create their PRIDE posters can do so. We provide you all the materials for your poster - posterboard, pens, markers etc. We even glue the wooden stick so you can carry your poster with pride! If you would like to bring any special decorative materials - pictures, photos, embellishments, please remember to bring them with you along with any kind of adhesive you need.

After you complete your posters on Sunday, we will collect them for you and give them back to you at the start of the PRIDE parade on Oct 9th. Convenient! See our Atlanta Pride Page for details of the parade.

If you sign up or renew your membership this September, you will receive a free t-shirt that you can wear as you march with the PFLAG Atlanta contingent in the Atlanta PRIDE parade. Anyone who has renewed their membership this year is eligible to get this free t-shirt – please email [email protected] in order to get your t-shirt if you’ve renewed this year before this offer was announced.

If you need to buy extra t-shirts they will be available shortly on the website at a discounted rate of $5.

All t-shirts must be picked up at one of three locations:-

  • The PFLAG Atlanta booth at Piedmont Park on Saturday Oct 8th between 11am and 5pm or
  • The start of the Pride parade on Sunday Oct 9th by 12.30pm or
  • A subsequent PFLAG Atlanta meeting on or after October 16th

Please note, T-shirts CANNOT be shipped to your address.

Attending a PFLAG meeting is always FREE and all are welcome!

What can I expect at a PFLAG meeting?

No one who attends a meeting is ever made to feel that he or she must speak. We all know the value of quiet listening. And no one who does speak is expected to reveal more than he or she feels comfortable with. But in the warm and supportive atmosphere many newcomers find that they are able to put troubling thoughts and fears into words for the first time and receive reassurance, guidance and facts. All conversations are considered confidential and are not discussed beyond the room.

PFLAG literature is available as you come in and our free book and video library is open. Most meetings begin with a speaker or program. We break for refreshments, then meet for an hour of support in small groups. We generally end our meeting with a casual invitation to all interested parties to share dinner with us at a local restaurant.

Directions to MCC

From the North or Northeast

1. Take I 85 Southbound to North Druid Hills exit.
2. Turn left to cross over I 85.
3. Go one block to traffic light at Tullie Rd.
4. Turn left on Tullie Rd., go past MacDonalds.
5. The church is the next building but entrance to parking lot is off the next street on the right.
6. Turn right and enter lot immediately on your right.
7. Park and enter building thru the side door facing the parking lot

From the South

1. Take I 85 Northbound to North Druid Hills Road exit.
2. At top of the ramp turn right.
3. Go one block to traffic light at Tullie Rd.
4. Proceed with steps 4 to 7 above.

From 400 Southbound

1. Exit at Sidney Marcus Blvd. (Exit 2)
2. Turn left at end of ramp.
3. Stay to the left as it feeds into Buford Hwy.
4. Proceed to North Druid Hills Rd. There’s a CVS Store on the left corner.
5. Turn right , cross over I 85.
6. Go one block to traffic light at Tullie Rd.
7. Follow steps 4 to 7 above.
