“On December 17, 1997, when our son Adam told us he was gay, our world was turned upside down. We were absolutely devastated. We desperately needed someone to comfort us, to assure us that our son, our family would be okay. But we were too embarrassed and scared to admit this secret to anyone, to reach out for comfort. We tried several counselors. All of which were understanding, but did not give us the answer we wanted. We really wanted to hear them say, “Mr. and Mrs. Ellis, your son is not gay, he is just confused and we will be able to help him.” We did not get that answer, so we moved on.”


Come join us this Sunday as we listen to how Patti & Jeff Ellis went from anxious parents to proud supporters of their son, Adam. Patti and Jeff were the recipients of the Out with the Stars Parents Award in 2012 for their work to advance equality and acceptance in Atlanta.

We will hold our support groups first from 2:30pm to 3:30pm then break for refreshments and return at 3:45pm to listen to Patti & Jeff.

From the South

Coming from I-20 East or West, or going North on I-75 or I-85

Go North into downtown Atlanta on the I-75 / I-85 connector. Take Exit 249B toward Spring Street and West Peachtree Street. Follow signs to Peachtree Street (straight ahead). Go LEFT (North) on Peachtree Street; go five blocks North to 5th Street. Saint Mark is on the right side, at the corner of Peachtree Street and 5th Street.

We can also be reached by MARTA, Atlanta’s public transit system. Parking for less than 24 hours is free at many MARTA parking facilities.

By train:

Take a northbound or southbound train to the N3 station at North Avenue, then exit the station at the north end, go north two blocks to 5th Street, turn right and walk up two blocks to Peachtree Street. Saint Mark will be right in front of you.

By bus:

Route: 110 Peachtree St./”The Peach” runs north/south on Peachtree Street every 30 minutes weekdays and every 20 minutes Sundays.
